WHAT DO YOU EXPECT FROM TH£ NEW YEAR?

God has made us some awesome promises in His Word. The Bible tells us that in the day we seek Him with our whole hearts, we will find Him. Job said, ''He knows the way that I take." There is not a thought we think, a plan we make, a sorrow, joy, disappointment or victory that we experience, but  the Lord knows all about it. He promised to be our shield, our anchor, our rock, and our redeemer. He promised to be our water in a dry land, and our shelter in time of storm.  He is a strong tower we can hide in and a pillar we can lean on. He is a friend that sticks closer than a brother. The reason we can, without fear, put our hand into His and let Him lead us, is because He not only walks beside us, but He has been there before us. In our valley he is there to give rest , strength, peace and comfort. On our mountain top He is there to give us rejoicing and a glad heart!  The Bible says He knows the end from the beginning.

In this New Year we need to make some new commitments to the Lord. Pray until you are baptized with a fresh fire of the Holy Ghost! Ask God to raise your sights and give you new vision, new excitement and new boldness. Ask Him to give you new love for the reading of His Word, new commitment to a consistent prayer life, new concern for the lost, and a deeper walk with Him.

We find so many who want the benefits of knowing Jesus without the commitment of walking with Him in a dedicated Godly life! They like the idea of knowing someone they can call on when they're down and out with no job and no milk in the house for the baby. They always know to call the preacher when serious sickness or life-threatening accidents happen, but they want no spiritual connection with this God they so brazenly use and discard at their own whim.

As good and loving as our God is, He will one day be a God of judgement! Listen to this scripture too many people ignore from Proverbs 1, beginning at verse 24. ''Because I have called and you refused; I have stretched out my hand and no man regarded; But you have set at naught all my counsel, and would have none of my reproof; I will also laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh; When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when anguish and distress cometh upon you, Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me: For they that hated knowledge and did not choose the fear of the Lord; they would have none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof. Therefore they shall eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own  devices...BUT•••

whoso harkened unto me shall dwell safely and shall be quiet from fear of evil." (Prov. 1:24-32 )

Yes, God has many promises - both for the just who live and walk by faith and obedience to God's Word and Will and for the unjust who scorn His commandments and persist in living their own self centered ungodly way. There are abundant rewards for the faithful and eternal punishments for the un faithful. Why not make this year count for God in your life in a brand .new way?

The future lies before you, like drifts of pure white snow, be careful how you tread it, for every step will show!
